Through the national network of NHS Physical Activity Clinical Champions (PACC), healthcare professionals can receive interactive peer-to-peer training delivered by a healthcare professional from our multidisciplinary team of physical activity experts. Free, interactive training sessions on physical activity for the management and prevention of long-term conditions are available online or face to face to groups of 12 or more healthcare professionals at a time, to suit local training needs.

The training is developed to increase your knowledge, skills and confidence around the benefits of physical activity for the prevention of long-term conditions and give you confidence in your ability to talk about physical activity with patients.

Training includes information on national campaigns like Sport England's 'We are Undefeatable'. It also includes information on opportunities in the local area that healthcare professionals may be able to link patients into.

Learning outcomes include:

  • Increased knowledge of the UK Chief Medical Officers' (CMOs) guidelines for physical activity.
  • Ability to describe population physical activity levels at national and local levels.
  • Increased confidence to explain the benefits of physical activity for the management and prevention of long-term conditions.
  • Skills to apply this knowledge in your clinical care of patients through routine brief advice on physical activity.
