The Young Leader Award is delivered to pupils in Year 4. The programme aims to train and support young people in delivering a range of games and activities which require their developed leadership skills to be used.
Throughout the delivery of the award the young people will engage in both light theory and practical activities which aims to inform and develop skills, such as giving instructions, organisation of people and equipment and use of space.
Benefits of the Young Leader Award:
The young people will develop their organisation, communication, planning and social skills. In conjunction with the experiences they will gain from working with younger children their confidence, self-esteem and moral skills will also be enhanced.
The award is delivered within the school curriculum initially over 3 weeks (1.5hrs per week) during the Autumn Term followed by 3 weeks (1.5hrs per week) of TOP UP Leadership during the Spring Term.
TOP UP Leadership sessions focus on the Young People -Using Student Voice feedback from within their school to Co-Design and Co-Produce a Level 1 (Intra) School Multi Skills Festival for their KS 1 Peers.
