Luton's Over 50s Black Men Forum, a community group that delivers physical activity to the over 50's black male community living in Luton, applied for and succeeded in winning an LSPAN Small Grant to help enable their project to continue and flourish.
The Luton Forum group runs a table tennis project to help tackle isolation and improve health among black men aged over 50, as well as fight the economic and social inequalities among the demographic.
The Luton group currently provide two hours of table tennis action and fun every Wednesday evening at the Coop Sports and Social Club, Stockingstone Road, in the Round Green ward. Attendance to their sessions has grown significantly since they were established in 2018. The group prides itself in being a supportive community for the over 50's black men of Luton, providing a diverse group of ethnic men with physical activity, healthy competition and friendship.
