Francis Samuel won funding from LSPAN's Talented Athlete Fund in 2024, a grant which he says has been instrumental in helping him progress in his sport and ultimately win his first professional boxing title.
He used the sports grant to support key aspects of his training and development, including enabling him to invest in high-quality boxing gloves, ensuring better protection and performance during training. It also covered travel costs to and from training sessions and competitions, enabling him to gain valuable experience and exposure. Additionally, the grant supported Francis's nutrition, allowing him to maintain a well-balanced diet that fuelled his performance and recovery.
The support also helped Francis stay motivated and committed to his sport, as he wouldn't be able to train with financial barriers holding him back. Additionally, it provided him with opportunities to connect with other athletes and coaches, helping Francis to learn, grow, and push himself to new levels.
