Safeguarding & Protecting Children (UK Coaching)
By completing this workshop you will be able to: review your own practice to ensure that it complies with advocated and recognised codes of conduct; identify your values and feelings in relation to child abuse and recognise how these might potentially impact on your responses; recognise signs and indicators of child abuse and understand the impact of abuse on children; respond in an appropriate way to children who disclose that they are being abused; take appropriate action if concerns are raised that suggest a child is being abused.
Please note if you're a young volunteer in sport under the age of 16 'Keeping Safe in Sport: Safeguarding for Young Volunteers (13+) is the workshop for you. Anyone under the age of 16 will not receive a certificate for attending this workshop.
Please be aware that candidates of the ages 16 and 17 will require an adult chaperone to attend the course with them. This cannot be an adult already attending the course.
(This workshop is a 'Minimum Standards for Active Coaches' requirement for many governing bodies of sport*. The 'Minimum Standards for Active Coaches' are seen as the basic standards every coach needs to meet to carry out their role safely and effectively.)
